What is the PSBA?
The PSBA is a business incubator that currently houses up to 25 high-technology start-ups. Oregon Historical Society Internship

Project Title: Oregon Historical Quarterly Internship

PROJECT: Assist in production of the Oregon Historical Quarterly.

Responsibilities: The intern for this project will:
· Check facts and quotes in manuscripts for accuracy.
· Research photographs and other illustrations to accompany articles.
· Assist in production of the Quarterly including page layout and proofreading.

Qualifications:
· Organized and detail-oriented.
· Experience with writing and editing.
· Self-motivated with flexible schedule.
· Experience with research using historical documents.

Position Description & Tasks:
terra IMS seeks a PSU student intern to assist with the company's small business/local government market analysis efforts. This position is aimed at providing the intern(s) with practical work experience in the geospatial industry. The selected intern(s) will work with terra IMS to identify market opportunities for its Internet mapping products and services in the small business and local government markets. Much of this work will involve unsupervised research using the Internet (web and email).

Internship Tasks
u Meet and discuss terra IMS' objectives with its management to gain a clear understanding of the company's mission and objectives.
u Review existing products and services offered by terra IMS; gain an understanding of how these products and services fill different needs within the geospatial industry.
u Identify and compile a comprehensive list (MS Access database or Excel spreadsheet) of relevant technical contacts in small local governments throughout the United States.
u Identify and compile a preliminary list (MS Access database or Excel spreadsheet) of regional (Pacific Northwest) small businesses contacts that may be interested in terra IMS products and services.
u Produce an executive summary of market analysis results.
u Conduct a brief final presentation on market analysis results for terra IMS management.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Interested applicant(s) should be interested in expanding their knowledge and experience in the geospatial industry. A basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is preferred, but not required. Applicant(s) should posses the ability to quickly assimilate technical and non-technical information, especially as it relates to geospatial products and services.

Ability to quickly gather and organize information using the web and email are required. Experience with “office” suites such as Microsoft Office Suite or OpenOffice Suite is required as well. Much of the work will be unsupervised research, and as such, applicant(s) should feel comfortable conducting work independently.

We offer customized, staff-level internships to qualified college students, recent graduates, graduate students, and individuals making a career change or returning to the workforce. What do we look for in a candidate?

What's the commitment?
Internships run a minimum of eight weeks. Many internships are full or part-time for a three to six month period.

Can I get credit?

Project Title: Family Day Planner
(unpaid internship)

DEPARTMENT: Education

PROJECT: A Family Day is scheduled for November 10, 2007, Saturday. This Family Day’s Program will be based on the upcoming exhibits at the Oregon Historical Society. Those exhibits will be, GI Dream: Home, Family, Peace & Prosperity; Art of Gaman: Arts and Crafts from the Japanese American Internment Camps, 1942-1946; and From Swords to Plowshares: Metal Trench Art from WWII.

Responsibilities: The intern for this project will:
· Create program activities for families and the general public related to the temporary exhibits for the Fall of 2007.
· Find qualified individuals to facilitate the various activities.
· Schedule the times for the activities and design a printed program.
· Participate in the Family Day, Saturday, November 10, 2007.
· Design a program evaluation instrument.
· Develops potential program ideas for future Family Days.
· Completes other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
· Experience in creating and designing education experiences for families preferred but not essential.
· Organizational skills
· Demonstrated interest in museums and history.
· The ability to schedule regular work hours on site at OHS.

Time Commitment: Fall Semester 2007, 10 hours a week.

Project Title: Story Time Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Education

PROJECT: The Education Department is proposing a program using stories and crafts related to the exhibits at OHS for the pre-school and kindergarten audience


Responsibilities: The intern for this project will:
· Devise and conduct front-end, formative and summative evaluations for the Story program.
· Research age appropriate picture books that would connect with OHS exhibits, both permanent and temporary.
· Create a series of 45 minute programs using books, artifacts and crafts based on OHS exhibits.
· Assist in the training of docents to lead the programs.
· Participate in the presentation of the programs.
· Completes other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
· Educational background related to Early Childhood Education and Children’s Literature.
· Experience in creating and designing educational experiences pre-school and kindergarteners.
· Comfortable reading stories and leading children’s activities.
· Demonstrated interest in museums and history.
· The ability to schedule regular work hours on site at OHS.

Time Commitment: Fall Semester 2007, 10 hours a week.

OREGON JEWISH MUSEUM

The Oregon Jewish Museum is offering unpaid graduate and/or undergraduate Collections, Exhibitions, and Archival internships for Fall, Winter and Spring 2007-2008.
OJM interns work closely with museum staff on varied collections and exhibitions projects to gain insight into the workings of museums. Tasks include, but are not limited to: exhibition and collection research, processing archival collections, cataloging collections, data entry, digitizing and cataloging photographic collections, gallery preparation, and artifact handling.
Candidates must be able to handle objects with extreme care, write neatly, work with detailed numbering systems, keep accurate and clear records, and handle moderately heavy objects. Interested students should be working toward a degree in history, art history, material culture, Jewish studies, museum studies, or anthropology. Previous museum or gallery experience is not required.
